Well, I have a Stauer Graves 33 automatic that has worked perfectly since the day I got it 3 years ago. It keeps great time and looks as new as the day it arrived. I do take good care of it and only use it as a dress watch, so it doesn't see hard daily use. Your results may vary.

I agree, the Chinese seem to make everything these days, but nothing they make is made well. I am open to answers on that statement, but everything I buy that has made in china on it never seems to be made to last.I suppose give it a decade and that will change. its funny considering they are supposed to be a communist country that they are the biggest capalists in the world..I suppose thats another arguement and off topic

i will drop a japanese watch on a chinese and the chinese watch will break into little bitty pieces of thin copper. i will not pay over 1 dollar for anything made in china, because it is guaranteed to break. the people in the factory dont even know what they are making half the time, and live on dollar store food.

Sorry, I wrote that a while ago. Refute away!

You already said that, and I've refuted it.

It's actually more than you would think. It's kept quiet. I saw a listing in one of the trade rags recently of the bigger Swiss watch manufacturers that are now working with Asian manufacturers. I will try to find the article and post a link to it. I was blown away by it.

I'm a watchmaker and buy parts for many swiss watches on a regular basis, and your full of it. Almost no high end makers use any Chinese parts. And Can you please provide a proper citation for this article? It's true that some Brands like Oris and Tag do, but these are lower end swiss watches, but even still the movements are all swiss made, not this cheap chinese crap that is used by Stauer.

I still don't believe that goes for luxury items such as watches. These companies are pretty wealthy, and they take such great pride in their heritage (sometimes bordering xenophobia). Perhaps they have a few things made outside Switzerland, but all in European territory still...
